Washington, D.C. Is a Fourth Amendment-Free Zone

While the Fourth Amendment guarantees "the right of the people to be secure in their persons ... and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures," the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) made it clear earlier this week that the Constitution does not apply in D.C. According to Metro Transit Police Chief Michael Taborn, "Inspections could take place at any Metrorail station or Metrobus stop. They will be random, unannounced and focused on explosive detection." While the justification supplied for ignoring the Constitution was one of deterring terrorists, the unfortunate reality is that this gross violation of rights is likely to be completely ineffective.

Grassform score a winner with West Ham United.

Extensive renovation
When West Ham United purchased its Little Heath Academy training ground in 2001 it was obvious to Head Groundsman Doug Robertson that an extensive pitch renovation programme was required. His wish has now come true thanks to Essex based sportsfield contractors Grassform Ltd., who have completed a wide-ranging project consisting of pitch surface levelling, land drainage, re-seeding and other tasks. The site, now complete, hosts youth football for the West Ham United academy youngsters ranging in age from seven to eighteen, over an average of four games per week.

Complete drainage system

What We Owe Our Soldiers

Every Veterans Day we pay tribute to our fellow Americans who have served in the military. With speeches and ceremonies, we recognize their courage and valor. But justice demands that we also recognize that we should have far more living veterans than we do. All too many of our soldiers have died unnecessarily--because they were sent to fight for a purpose other than America's freedom.

The proper purpose of a government is to protect its citizens' lives and freedom against the initiation of force by criminals at home and aggressors abroad. The American government has a sacred responsibility to recognize the individual value of every one of its citizens' lives, and thus to do everything possible to protect the rights of each to life, libe...

Greenpeace uses 4000 windmills to call on Belgium and E.ON to quit coal

Antwerp - More than 80 activists placed thousands of windmills with the message to "Quit Coal" at the site of E.ON's proposed coal fired power-plant in Antwerp Harbour. The action illustrates the choice facing Flemish authorities: authorise the construction of a huge coal power plant, or invest in wind power and greater energy independence.

This afternoon, a Greenpeace delegation will meet with the Cabinet of Flemish Minister President, Kris Peeters, to debate how Flanders and Belgium can move to a future free of coal and nuclear power.

"It's a question of good governance. The current environment impact report process [1] is meaningless. Flanders should not allow the construction of any new coal power plant," said Fawaz Al Bitar, Gr...

Nationalization Is Theft

Venezuela, Russia, and other countries that nationalize natural resources are violating private property rights.

For years, the Canadian operator of a huge Venezuelan gold project known as Las Cristinas has been seeking an environmental permit to start digging. Well, Crystallex International Corporation can stop waiting--the mine is being nationalized as part of dictator Hugo Chavez's long-running program of socialist takeovers. "This mine will be seized and managed by a state administration" with help from the Russians, said Mining Minister Rodolfo Sanz.

It's not surprising that a brute like Chavez would want to grab the 16.9 million ounces of gold estimated to lie buried in the Las Cristinas reserve. But what's more puzzling...

More voices come out expressing concern about supermodel Heidi Klum's "Kali" costume

LEOLA, PA ... Looking for a recipe for financial success? Take 2,000 gallons of used motor oil each year. Recycle it with an on-site Clean Burn furnace and save $700 per month on natural gas costs. That.s the success story happening at Michigan State University.

"This furnace is a real work horse for us," says Mark Collins, farm manager at Michigan State University. "We gather all the used motor oil from our farming equipment, university vehicles and landscaping equipment. Once recycled through the Clean Burn unit we can heat our shop along with the office and conference room complex."

BETTER DAYS ARE COMING TO CARIBBEAN TOURISM

	By Bevan Springer

NEW YORK - While tourism operators at home and in the marketplace bemoan the current difficult economic times and the typical challenges they associate with the summer and fall seasons, others are "improving, renovating, expanding and exposing" their product in anticipation of better days.

the travel trade media, making it crystal clear that the global fallout in travel and tourism is not so severe that we should bawl and complain.

Out of every crisis there is an opportunity - and today's tough times of reduced airlift and weak demand in a global financial mess, does in fact present an opportunity to go to market - to fish f...

Hindu and Episcopal leaders engage in dialogue

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, says that dialogue brings us reciprocal enrichment. In our shared exploration for truth, we should learn from each other and thus come nearer to the truth.

The Episcopal Church is made up of between two and three million worshipers in about 7500 congregations across USA and related dio...

Right Reverend Gene Savoy Jr., NCA President, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said, "We at the NCA urge the makers of this film to have a feel for the sensitivities of the devotees, depict the scripture in its authentic form without any alterations and consult Hindu leaders like acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed and others before launching this venture."

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that Ramayan was a highly revered scripture of Hinduism. Hollywood was welcome to make a movie about Ramayan but the final product should be the true depiction of it and not a fantasized or a re-imagined version.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, said that changing Ramayan to fit the Hollywood machine were likely to hurt the Hindu sentiments, Ramayan had been venerated for thousands of years and we believe that it would continue to be revered in 3392 AD.

Finding The Best Internet Based Business To Achieve Your Online Income Goals

Not many of the people who direct you to internet based business opportunities will actually be able to teach you how to make a consistent income online. There is a big difference between earning ten thousand dollars a month from the internet consistently and making a million dollars in gross earnings over a ten year period.

Be careful not to fall for those opportunities that tempt you with large financial claims, graphics of expensive cars and homes, which are often seen on the cover of cheap resell rights ebooks on auction sites around the web. Many of these books are outdated and are unlikely to provide you with an excellent source of internet based business opportunities or a single good reference on how to properly make online incom...

You can save a marriage before it dissolves into divorce. In fact, you can do what it takes to rebuild your relationship even if only one spouse is interested in the process. Instead of thinking about marriage as two people trying to lift a big rock,...
